The Totally Unknown Writers Festival 2005: A Celebration of Arnie | ||||||||
|
On Monday, October 24, 2005, The Thirteenth Annual Totally Unknown Writers Festival celebrated Arnie Achtman, who we lost in March 2005. This special celebrations was held at The Mod Club, instead of our usual venue, The Rivoli, which holds only 200–uncomfortably. The Mod Club, situated six blocks west of Bathurst on College Street, brought us together near Arnie's home, and the home of Life Rattle. Arnie's presence at Life Rattle is very much missed. The festival featured selections of stories written for Arnie, a recording Arnie reading Graduate School, and a slide show. The stories read at the festival, plus several more, written for Arnie, and by Arnie are published in: Arnie Achtman recording of Graduate School Karen Graham reading I Never Knew the Man Wendy Thatcher reading A Member of the Cast Denny Hunte reading The Phone Call Aline Burke reading Early Magic Marie Margis reading Homemade Soup Victoria Martinez reading Yes, Arnie, Sir Kwai Li reading Recording Jillian McKelvey reading Don’t Squeak Eloi Minka reading an excerpt of My Father’s Son Robert Price reading Arnie’s Closet Adam Giles reading Mini Heartbreak Festival Huamei Han reading One Dollar Host Sultan Ameerali reading You Got a Hairy Back Donna McFarlane reading Losing Arnie Virginia Ashberry reading No Ribbons
