“Through a collection of short stories, discover small reflections of the author’s past uncovering what it means be part of the homeland, to be a true Polka.”
Nothing can ever separate you from your homeland. As a child growing up in a Polish-Canadian household, this could not be any more true for my parents who were both born and raised in Poland. Early in life, my parents invited me into their homeland. I took my first steps in Poland. I said my first words in Polish. I even learned how to read in Polish. But I was born in Canada, where I soon had to learn how to tell my two worlds apart.
