This volume presents the work of 11 new writers who, through first person narratives, study places near and far to learn what these places mean to them and what they say about all of us.

The writers travel to coffee farms in Kenya, fast food joints in Mississauga, and delivery rooms in the Phillippines. They take readers on journeys through backyards, gyms, churches, and places that used to be home. They show us that foreign locales are sometimes more familiar than we first expected, while familiar places can be stranger than we knew.
