Penny Verbruggen is mom to Jessica, Jeremy and Zoe. She teaches high school English and ESL at Denis Morris Catholic High School in St. Catharines. Verbruggen is a PhD student at the University of Toronto, a writer, and a jewellery designer.

Penny Verbruggen is a writer who works between the lines. You will find her meaning among the beautiful pattern of details that she presents in her stories. Last week, and on tonight's show, May 1 and 8, Life Rattle presents six new stories written by Verbruggen—the “Andrew Stories.” When asked to describe this series, Verbruggen replied: “I suppose the stories are steps in my post-divorce dating dance. Clumsy. Ill-timed. Sweet.”
