Hosted by Virginia Ashberry featuring Goeff Thomas reading his stories: |
tonight's writer and stories Geoff Thomas was born in 1969, the middle child between an older brother and younger sister. His Mother is a Librarian, his Father a TTC Streetcar Driver. The Family moved to Mississauga when Geoff was five. Geoff left home at 18 and travelled around the province for the next 16 years including short stints at Carleton and Ryerson universities. Geoff Thomas married at age 34, after which he tells us, he bolted for the 905, where he and his family have lived ever since. He has two young daughters. He attended teachers college at OISE , dabbles at writing between diaper changes, and hopes to return to his alma mater, U of T at Mississauga, to teach writing. Geoff tells us he “owes a great deal of thanks to all the professors in the PWC program, where he learned to write powerfully, embrace risk, and violate convention. Tonight we will air two of Geoff’s stories about his world travel. They take us off the beaten path and into personal lives of people he meets along the way. Geoff’s writing is vivid, exciting and at time both funny and touching. |
