hosted by virginia Ashberry featuring "The Home Visit" |
tonight's Show Life Rattle No. 1360 features a classic story by Denny Hunte. Denny Hunte came to Canada in 1967 when he was twelve and a half, from Barbados, with his brother and three sisters, to re-join parents who had arrived earlier. Hunte was born and spent his youth in Ellerton Barbados, a village of three to four thousand people in a landlocked parish on the island. The Hunte family settled in Toronto. Denny attended Ryerson and York universities and has worked for Toronto Social Services since 1981. Hunte has been a frequent contributor to Life Rattle as well as a generous supporter and volunteer for our various projects over the years. "The Home Visit" takes us on a home visit to complete an application for social assistance. This routine, bureaucratic process is never routine, because it involves real people in difficult situations. With brilliant pacing, description and dialogue, Hunte will break and warm you heart. A perfect Holliday story!. Please Note: Tonight's story contains language that some listeners may find offensive. Listener discretion is advised. |
